H2UB was one of 4,000 companies taking part in the world’s leading industrial trade fair, Hannover Messe. This year’s motto was ‘Energizing a Sustainable Industry’. Companies from the engineering, energy, electrical and digital industries presented their solutions to achieve carbon neutrality through electrification, digitalization and automation.
H2UB was not alone in its efforts to support and promote different aspects and areas where hydrogen can make a significant contribution to reducing emissions. We shared the exhibition space with our #HYDROVERSE network and partners such as RWE Westfalen, Zentrum für Brennstoffzellen Technik and NRW.ENERGY 4CLIMATE, among others.
One of the highlights of the show was the start-up tour we organized with the VDMA. During the tour we visited companies from the economic, technical and scientific sectors, such as Phoenix Contact, Pepperl + Fuchs, Wago, Optima, Heraeus, GKN Hydrogen, H-tec Systems and GP Joule. For example, while learning about GP Joule’s view on how to create incentives for energy suppliers to develop more domestic hydrogen projects, we also learned that the company was founded by two pig farmers from northern Germany. Today, they develop green energy and vertically integrated hydrogen projects with refueling stations and bus/truck services.
All in all, the trade fair was a great success. Not only in terms of getting an insight into the current state of the hydrogen ecosystem, but also because it was good to see some of our #HYDROVERSE start-ups exhibiting. It was also an important opportunity to network with industry decision makers, as concrete actions need to be taken to achieve the goals set out in the Fit-for-55 program.
