To use hydrogen technologies on a broad scale and in concrete projects for the transformation of different sectors, and thus for the general success of climate protection measures, it is crucial that regional and municipal stakeholders are involved. Every national hydrogen strategy depends on local implementation.
In our hometown Essen, the partnership between Essener Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (EVV) and H2UB will focus on assessing the implementation of hydrogen projects. EVV becomes part of our large international innovation network, benefiting from market intelligence and access to a growing network of over 500 European H2 start-ups supporting local and regional projects.
Powering Essen’s hydrogen strategy with innovative solutions
EVV‘s mission is to ensure that Essen continues to grow as an up-and-coming business location in the heart of the Ruhr metropolis. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the City of Essen, EVV is a service provider, initiator, driver of innovation, and a co-creator of the energy revolution within the City of Essen Group.
„The ramp-up of the H2 infrastructure is of central importance for our hydrogen projects in Essen. We need the expertise and ideas of many minds for the upcoming transformation tasks. As a pioneer of the energy transition in the Ruhr region and an innovative location for sustainable energy solutions, our participation in the innovative H2UB network is an important investment in the future,“ says Jochen Sander, Managing Director of EVV.
Being part of the leading European platform for open innovation in hydrogen, this commitment of EVV is a strong signal that the hydrogen economy offers many opportunities for innovative players on all levels.
